Disco Misr - Groove like an Egyptian

Recently I have heard a great elector track that led me to inquire more about the maker.

I didn't find a lot of details about the "Disco Misr" ensemble, but the ensemble's Instagram page gave me a first glimpse of the club scene in Cairo and I have to admit it makes it feel like really deepening and getting to know the people involved.

Behind Disco Misr stands the creative duo Hamad Ammar and Mustafa Al Sharif. Their music is original and combines Arabic motifs (vocals, rhythms) with electropunk and disco music.

The last single they released over the years hosts one of the most refreshing voices on the Arabic mainstream pop scene - Aziz Maraka.

The son of a Palestinian father and mother from Lebanon, Maraka, who was born and studied music in Tunis, is today living and producing in Jordan, and he represents a new generation of Arab artists who adhere to innovative production and musical arrangements that align with Western music.

The connection between Maraka's melodic talent and Ammar and Al Sharif's updated arrangement and production produces an international pop hit that will easily find its way to the playlist of any self-respected cosmopolitan bar/lounge.

The combination between the funky arrangement and the Arabic language works great.

All that remains is to wait for the next collaboration between the artists.
