Llego Van Van (1999)

Los Van Van was founded in 1969 and went through many changes throughout the years.
Most people will argue that “llego Van Van“ was produced and recorded by the best lineup of players and singers.

To a certain extend this album marked also the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.

Juan Formel,the group fearless leader, still in his prime but now introducing his son Samuel Formel who step into the big shoes of drummer Changuito who passed in 93.
Samuel also contribute one hit “Somos Cubanos” and show a glimpse of his talent.

Cesar “pupi” Pedroso on the keyboards is still with the bend contributing some of his biggest hits to this album before leaving shortly after to form his own band.

The lead signers includes the more traditional Perdrito Clavo (also last album), Roberto Hernandez (Roberton) and the mighty Mario (Mayito) Riverra.

Some of the best songs includes the epic “La bomba soy yo” the sensual “ El negro esta cocinando” and the intelligent “ Temba, Tumba y Timba” but there are many more good tracks and a lot of complex compositions and smart texts.

This album is a real masterpiece and earn the band their first Latin “Grammy” award.
