Arseno Rodriguz

Acknowledged by many as the “godfather of Salsa” Arseno rodrigez was born in Cuba in the beginning of the 20st century.
He became blind at the age of 7 and quickly thought himself to play. Eventually he mastered both the Conga - an Afrocaribean drum and the Tres - a Caribbean guitar with 3 double strings.
At his 20s he was already working with some of the finest music bands in Havana until he formed his own band.

Arseno is famous for adding the conga beats into the classic Son music .
This crated a much richer and upbeat sound that was further developed and became what we know today as Salsa music.
